I did not realise I was following Tim, but after a couple of promising reports from TRM inmates, I thought it was time to check out the Bridge Pool. As you all know, this used to be the greatest pool in NZ but faded due to silting up and aggradation issues that changed the flow, and it has not fired for a few years. Then over the last week and particularly over the weekend, these reports confirmed it was starting to produce the way it used to. Early days yet, so keep it to yourself. OK?
The only major change was to convince anglers to change sides to the TRB.

Late this morning, I carefully studiously studied the flow just below the bridge and didn’t spot a single trout. The reason became clear when I looked a little further down, where four anglers were hauling them out before they reached the bridge. One angler at the top kindly obliged by catching one as we watched.
