The only place to buy this book is Anglers’ Table Cafe and Tackleshop, located at the front of Creel Lodge.

This may seem unusual for another competing motel to recommend a book from another motel describing the extraordinary life of the owner, Peter Deakin.   At last we can comment with some real authority as we are now in our sixth year, still selling TRM’s “mockumentary”, TONGARIRO Skulduggery.

The book covers far more historic fishing stuff than just the Creel Lodge and the Tongariro River.  This is the first sentence to explain it:

“For a very long time I wondered what I could do to give something back for the incredible life I have enjoyed.”  Personal tales from fishy characters like “Pete the Fish” are rare.

With some other similar must-read fishy books, TRM tried to leave a copy in each unit for inmates to enjoy on days when the weather was not cooperating.  Once they start reading TS they get caught up in the evil plot and have to buy a copy to find out what happened.

But not this time, as I know they would go missing!  It is such an enjoyable tale. You will never enjoy the coffee the same at Anglers’ Table until you have read Pete’s history.
