With warmer summer conditions approaching, TRM guests need to plan to bike the best one-day trail in NZ. This requires some basic research, as there are numerous other tracks available in the Kaimanawa region. Many of these roads were originally formed for access to the Tongariro Hydro power scheme back in the 1960’s and now offer superb biking trails. Their popularity has increased substantially with the “ebike” generation.

Last summer season TRM posted a trail blog from keen bikers. We were swamped with requests for more detail which cannot be posted on fb. Since then other bikers have requested more info. even when they are not staying here!

A major attraction is the elevation gradient which drops significantly over 600m over the 40 km route – see below.
