SWMBO received such complimentary comments about the beautiful Tongariro River images that She has some more for you. This time She has named the pools – to make recognition of their location easier.
It may be world famous for trout fishing but it is truly a national treasure to more than just anglers. What was interesting was most of the interest was from bikers wanting to ride there just to admire what Tongariro anglers rave about.
We are so lucky to have such a river available all year round.
Imagine it polluted by silver carp… take action now! NZ cannot afford the risk.
Further to the carp farm developers claims that Lake Taupo would be too cold for the carp to breed (?) we received the following email and photo evidence:
Hi Ross, I hope you are still all in one piece following your recent travels. The enclosed picture is of a 7lb Grass Carp I caught on the fly in Lake Tutira just north of Napier. Looked like there was quite a few of them in the lake and the one I caught was very fit and healthy! Not sure of the water temperature compared to Taupo but they looked to be surviving OK.
