Let the images tell the stories…
Denis Renard from New Caledonia with his limit bag of two BIG brown trout and a rainbow trout from the Bridge Pool after the rain on Friday.
As usual, after other inmates had booked out early because of the rain, the fishing immediately improved. This happens every time it rains. Last Friday the dry conditions absorbed most of the rain and the river did not flood as expected. Instead it became very fishy…
When the river is running fast and coloured the trout are trained to move out to the edges away from the main flow to avoid the abrasive pumice in their gills and to make it easier for anglers.
That’s where Denis ambushed them.
Below is Maggie Cadogan with her superb rainbow from Lake O.
Below is Robbie Cadogan’s excellent Rainbow. But the big question is: who has the biggest?
Then below is Stu Nicol releasing another in Lake O.
Below is Richard from New Plymouth with his good ‘selfie’ shots of Brown and Rainbow trout being released in the upper Tongariro – it was supposed to be cicada time but they were taking tiny nymphs instead.

Below is Rob Harris from Nelson about to test the Tongariro River Trail with his e-bike. See the battery on the frame…
Last is a shy inmate modelling her stylish new polo shirt from Tongariro River Motel where they have them in every size – both too big and too small.
