Words cannot do justice to the irresponsible charade by Taupo Council and their contractors over the Red Oak tree on Taupahi Road. Let the photos tell the story…

Photo above was the day of execution: 14 November 2024.

TDC’s pruning example for all the world to admire. (The footpath is still broken.) TDC eventually decided to replace the almost dead trunk.

Then today this message from Sandra Greenslade: (Sandra is the Turangi Councillor)
GOOD MORNING TAUPAHI RD RESIDENTS.
I have just had a call from Parks & Reserves to say that the replacement red oak at the end of Taupahi Rd will be planted today at 12.30 – all welcome. I am at the Water Services Committee meeting at 1pm so wont be there.

No sign of any suitable vandal-proof guard rail. Perhaps it was beyond their budget? Watch this space.
