We would not want you to miss out on the excitement on completing the new bridge, so here is a photo story.

Someone asked and wondered what would happen if one of the bridge engineers dropped something into the river?  Then it came true…

We were not waiting for this to happen but it had crossed our mind.  On Friday’s doggie patrol we noticed the crew hanging in the bosun’s chair under the new bridge to tighten or screw bolts into place – see photo below.

They were well prepared for every eventuality, but what if they dropped something?  How could they retrieve it?  Was there a Plan B?

About an hour ot two later we returned to discover a frogman figure with a full face snorkel preparing to plunge into the riffly flow.

It was too fast and vigorous to stand up, so he extended a rope from the existing bridge to hang on as he swung across the current.

Very efficiently, two ratchet spanners hiding amongst the stones were recovered from under the new bridge.  So now you know.  What a cool team, prepared for every eventuality.  No trout were disturbed during the recovery operation.
