At long last, suddenly Turangi has experienced a spurt in property values. Why?
In the NZ Herald survey, Turangi residential property values increased 13% in the last quarter and 27% over the last year! These increases exceed every other district in Taupo region and most of the rest of NZ as well. Yet the average residential property price is still soooo ridiculously low at $232,000 – less than the cost of a tiny residential section of land anywhere else. Unbelievable good value! Why?
This follows Toe-paw being officially recognised as the most beautiful town in NZ, but that is only because of Turangi. As TRM explained in their report in October 2018, Turangi is at least 20 years ahead of the rest of NZ. True!

The only people not surprised are the local Turangians… They know Turangi is over 20 years ahead of the rest of New Zealand in the nicest possible way. Something to do with “quality of life”…
Following evidence from TRM “Springtime” report in October 2018.

It’s official Taupo! We are the most beautiful large town in New Zealand!

Image above of that delightful springtime of year when the raiding parties of Tuis come to town to strip all the Kowhai trees of their blossoms. Their excitement is infectious.
Walking along Taupahi Road on my daily trip to town to escape the laundry and collect the mail etc. I felt the penetrating gaze from Polly before I noticed her. She was quite relaxed squatting in the blossom tree – at head height ignoring local traffic. I guess she was stripping the new blossoms getting drunk on their sweet nectar.
She probably recognises me as I think she is the same native pigeon that is often seen in the garden at TRM as well. I’m guessing it must be a female as when I moved in for close-up image, she preened and posed specially.
What you cannot pick up from the images was the delightful symphony in surrounding trees from Tuis and Bellbirds and other native birds. Even on a wet miserable day for the rest of the country, life is good in Turangi.
To try to win you over, this is what the “gummint” have been threatening to spend $$$zillions on – to try to improve your quality of life by bringing the native birds back to the city suburbs by 2040? But Turangi is already there. Other native bird images are from TRM.
These images clearly prove Turangi is over 20 years ahead of the rest of NZ.
How can anyone calculate what that is worth in added value? Then add quality of living, longer healthy life, no congestion, no traffic queues, such blissful peace and quiet away from all the daily stress issues, etc… (Don’t mention 1080…) And we haven’t even mentioned the world famous Tongariro River trout fishing. There should be no need…
Another ‘covey’ of quail strutting past TRM’s reception office showing off the new family arrivals.
