Can anyone advise what the TDC (Taupo District Council) did with this angler sign?

Tourists admired this giant sculpture when it was prominently displayed on the edge of SH1. It added a lot of character to the world famous trout fishing reputation of Turangi.

Then a couple of years ago, when the land was subdivided, it was removed and replaced with a long, boring, dog-proof, high-security fence.

TRM asked at the Turangi iSite Council Office. They advised it was being carefully stored until a new site was decided.

Next time we asked, they thought it was going to be erected in front of TALTAC (Tongariro and Lake Taupo Anglers Club) corner of Koura and Kokopu Streets.

Now, perhaps they hope that we have forgotten… but tourists haven’t.
