Trout fishing licence costs are excessive?

Every year this happens.  As soon as some fishos return for the winter spawning runs and have to pay for their new licences they start whinging.

We just had another complaint about the inconsiderate lack of any discount for Winstone’s Seniors Card.  Then we had a request from a West Island regular (BOF) who was looking for evidence to help him win an argument.  So you might need a reminder too.

You understand that F&G and DOC pay me for spreading this propaganda.

So we dug out the previous TRM Daily Report on this issue:

NZ Trout fishing licences are a bargain

IMG_5813Believe in coincidences?…  Straight after we had an elderly pensioner inmate complaining about the cost of his annual Taupo fishing licence – $90 – as there was no discount for his senior card, grizzling about what do anglers get back for our licence fees?  etc. the usual rave, – we received the following from UK:

Plates08Hi Ross,

Famous at last, well my rego (F1SH ON) is! (See Daily Report for 11 May) I’m back in Devon UK but counting down the days until my return to Taupo in November. Thought your readers might like the enclosed fishing offers, just to show what a great deal the NZ fishing licences are. These prices are for a single days fishing, on top of a UK fishing licence, £72.00 for the 2016 season!!  (At current exchange rate that is approx NZ $153 per annum)

Keep up the good work, whats the latest on the trout centre?

regards,

BW
