The following was posted on TRM facebook: TRM started the Daily Blog in 2004. The first blog was called “Where’s Wally?” when we followed an Irish angler on his first fishing trip down under. His first week was mainly at an Irish pub in Taupo, but that’s another story. Since then for 15 years we have religiously posted a report almost every day – over 5,000 reports on anything happening at TRM – from fishing tales to local events to quirky inmates, whatever. Then in late 2018 the website was hacked so we used the “facebook” format to continue the fishy theme with more regular TRM updates. After two weeks the TRM website is still jammed up and despite our best attempts has still not recovered. So now the pattern of the last 15 years has been broken, we will continue to post on TRM Facebook instead. Thank you for your huge support and kind comments.

Further apologies for readers complaints about missing the TRM Daily Reports. The website is now repaired but during the two weeks after Christmas – when the website was hacked – we redirected all updates to TRM facebook. That will now be used for all future updates.
We have since been asked by several if/when Daily Reports will resume? One Taupo angler called in with his subscription (a bottle of fine wine!) for 2018 to explain he does not do facebook and how he will miss the updates. We suggested in future to just click on the F (Facebook icon) on the home page.
So for him and some others suffering from the loss of their daily “fix” I added the “Fishing Therapy” story which was far too lengthy for facebook viewing. This could be the pattern for the future. When we have something worthy of more in-depth consideration we will refer to it on facebook.
Thank you for all the messages such as this typical letter of concern from another TRM West Island inmate :
I have just read your FB comments about your website. I am really surprised that the hacking may well spell the end of the website. I truely hope that this is not the case as your website is legendary and to be completely honest is what got me through the last few years of my working life. Until a couple of weeks ago it has also been one of the first sites I visit when I wake up each morning as it always puts a smile or a smirk on my face. My “SWMBO” has noticed I am more twitchy and distracted in the mornings and when I explained she now understands.
I hope it hasn’t been hacked by some terrorist working on behalf of Taupo Council on the basis that the web site is a threat to the dominance of Taupo in the region!
