The photo above illustrates the completion of the wall along the TRB of the lower Bridge Pool at the end of Herekiekie Street.
As indicated by the angler there is a convenient ledge along the base to provide anglers with a position to cast from.
This will be a very popular spot when the trout spawning runs start but you may need to practise your roll casting… or use a Spey rod?
The Tongariro remains low and clear and trout are easily spooked.
We need a few days of rain.
An angler was asking about the fishing down the TLB (True Left Bank) below the lower Bridge Pool featured above.
This follows the blocking off of access tracks.
The canal solution down the TLB that was dreamed up by Waikato Regional Council is still a disaster for anglers.
The photos below indicate why it is largely unfishable due to snags. We hate even publishing the photos as the original river from the TRB still wonderful fishing, particularly after rain. Do not judge the lower river by these photos. Tourist anglers still ask why are we trying to wreck the river?
So TRM suggest the lower TLB below the canal is a waste of walking effort now. Access is too difficult. The TRB below Bain Pool down to Reed Pool – Jones Pool has far better access.
The access tracks have been blocked to prevent locals using the lower river banks for dumping refuse.
Unfortunately some have still found another track down river.
On Sunday morning we found two deer skeletons boned out and fly blown.
Pumpkin thought they had been left for her.
At least the barriers let them know that dumping is not acceptable. The photos tell the story.
