Tongariro River works

The Tongariro River works plan consultation meeting will be held at 10.30am, Tuesday 9th August 2016 at the Bridge Lodge conference room in Turangi.

Library - 2305

Bends break-throughFollowing mail is self explanatory.  Every week TRM have to listen to anglers complaining about the deteriorating state of the river below the main road bridge.  We blame TV.  The programmes are so bad the anglers pick up the old Target Taupo and other fishy magazines and find reasons to grizzle about.  I refer them all to SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed manages everything at TRM) but they still bail me up in the laundry to tell me what it was like in the good ol’ days.

But seriously, they are justified in the loss of valuable spawning grounds in the lower river which is now treated as a metal quarry by the WRC and they believe that should never have been allowed…

So if you are one of the complainants please attend…  Next Tuesday – OK.  I know many anglers don’t live here and cannot attend so contact WRC with your complaints – otherwise they will assume everything is OK and you are happy with them quarrying in your river?

Further to the previous email and works programme.

The Tongariro River works plan consultation meeting will be held at 10.30am, Tuesday 9th August 2016 at the Bridge Lodge conference room in Turangi.
This will be a chance to discuss the Waikato Regional Council annual work programme for the Tongariro River, along  with any other river related issues.

IMG_4766Please pass this on to anyone who may be interested in attending.  I would appreciate a return email if you plan on attending to ensure we have arranged enough seating etc.  If you wish to discuss the work programme or any other issues prior to the meeting please drop me a line.

Kind Regards,
Todd.

Subject: Waikato Regional Council Draft Tongariro Annual Work Programme 2016/17

Hi,

You are receiving this email as you are listed as an interested party for consultation for our draft annual works plan for the Tongariro River flood protection Scheme, a copy of which is attached to this email. Can you please pass this on to interested individuals within your groups.

IMG_4986The Integrated Catchment Management directorate of Waikato Regional Council holds a Resource Consent to undertake management works within the flood scheme on the Tongariro River. Part of the Resource Consent conditions for this consent is to notify interested parties of our annual works plan for the following year.

The work programme is generally similar to last year, with maintenance works and vegetation management continuing.

I will be scheduling a meeting in the coming months for interested parties to attend. This is an opportunity to discuss our works programme, or to raise any concerns on the Tongariro River.

New bulldozed accessShould you wish to discuss the attached work plan or have any comments please get in touch.

Kind regards,
Todd.
