So how is the river fishing since the flood?
TRM inmates have enjoyed mixed results but following account from a Taupo angler is typical. Their fishing was late last week during office hours after all the early birds had gone.
…… Just a quick note to let you know I had a mornings fishing with my son Simon ….
We went down to the Tongariro and I fished “foodtown” and landed 3 good fish including a nice brown, while Simon went over and fished the Daisy pool.
He landed 4 over there so I went over to join him and landed 1 , while we both lost 4 others each.
The river was a lovely colour and the pool must have been full of fish !!! We got them on the usual, glow bugs, hare and copper, and a green pheasant tail, and cyclops (larger hare and copper with a gold bead)
The fish were all fresh and all gave a really great fight..and surprisingly to me no slabs, the flood must have washed them all away !!!
So it was just about like winter fishing which was great
We popped it to say hi but you must have been out fishing !!!
(CA failed to admit he was wearing a TRM lucky hat so he could hardly miss… Anglers reports on their fishing experiences on the Tongariro in particular are always welcome as nobody believes me (or SWMBO) any more.)
