The trout don’t mind getting wet

This is for those anglers who have been depressed with the wet weather and higher than usual flow levels on the Tongariro.  Some others treat it as a challenge and enjoy the flooded conditions without any competition from angler pressure.

Jozef from Slovenia is a regular visitor to Tongariro every summer season to search for big brown trout..

After travelling so far he cannot afford to lose a day and wait it out.  Jozef writes on his blog:

"A bit higher and colored water did not promise much. But within half
an hour I had three good brownies on the fly. The biggest one, of course, got off. Second one with 61 cm lenght you may admire
on photos attached. Cock fish as many times here in NZ with bigger ones."
