Spot the difference

IMG_1519Spot the difference?

IMG_1846Above is how they looked before I went away on Tuesday.  I had trimmed the photo so you cannot see all the pots.

On right are SWMBO’s remaining pot plants after I returned back yesterday after a brief visit to Auckland.

She was watering the plants yesterday and suddenly realised there were not as many as the day before…

The biggest pots that went missing (for a Christmas present?) will be the only ones in Turangi with the blue glaze full of SWMBO’s specially cultivated TRM pansies.

IMG_1845So if you see or know of someone’s mother or partner suddenly start showing off two big blue glazed ceramic pots full of pansies, you know what to do – the local police would love to hear from you at 021 191 3701 (Dave Wells).

The big blue glazed pots that were stolen were even more special being a present from a kind guest a few years ago.

Fay and her hubby Mike are now successfully growing old disgracefully in their new life as ‘grey nomads’ touring every NZ golf course in their camper van so she could not maintain the pots and Mike at the same time on the road.  That is their solution to escape Auckland congestion.

12249606_10153848442197160_2856080069509926707_nThere are so many retired people out there who unfortunately never went fly fishing…  But we digress…

Meanwhile I had a very brief visit to Auckland to return by rail.  When country folk visit Auckland from a small NZ town it is still a shock and a huge transition to see all those flash cars queued up going nowhere.

For an elderly angler from Turangi they almost qualify as a tourist attraction.  All that time and energy wasted?

11147239_1653049058261416_1654792189487788693_nFortunately we can positively comment on one noticeable new feature – a sensible investment providing for the future.   We applaud the many new mid-city cycle lanes.  They are such an improvement.  Auckland – take a bow.

But from the view of a biased regular visitor (every ten years is enough), they also need more bus lanes as well.  Ten years ago there were none…

That was probably why She forced me to retire to Turangi and to go fishing every day while She manages the motel.  Retirement can be wonderful for those who have escaped from Auckland.  Everyone to their own…

Fortunately sanity still prevails elsewhere in cute little places like – guess where?  An example of the difference is this is where a major drama is SWMBO’s missing pot plants…  In Turangi we are surprised they didn’t try to pinch Her poppies – below…  And not just for the spectacular flowers either…
