Moving rivers or lakes?

Thank you to TRM’s favourite DOC Ranger, Brenda Lawson, who called in yesterday with our new sign. Instead of aiming at anglers moving rivers, we are now targeting anglers and tourists moving lakes. We are getting our act together to welcome the huge flood of tourists in anticipation of the Auckland/Waikato Covid lockdown being removed in time for the summer holidays.

The old “temporary” sign, erected about 12 years ago, was looking tired and suffering irreparable damage despite repairs, after being attacked by local feral kids.

SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed is the manager of signs and anything else at TRM) decided the old tired “moving rivers” message was still too good to waste so it has been recycled on a neighbour’s fence.

The temporary DIDYM awareness signs first appeared in the 2012 photo together with the “Welcome to Turangi, Trout Fishing Capital of the World” sign on the SH1 corner.

This CCD (“Check Clean Dry”) is too important to neglect in the trout fishing capital of the world.

So the new sign now looks much sharper to compliment the new DGLT (Destination Great Lake Taupo are the council’s tourist wonderful promotions team) huge sign to welcome all tourists back to Turangi.
