Above is Damon Taylor with his fishing guide Poppy heading for the most successful pool on the Tongariro River – and it is not the one you thought of either! But we will save that for tomorrow’s Daily Report… Damon’s report on Sunday:
Fishing has been red-hot, best I’ve experienced for a number of years. Island Pool keeps on firing. 6 out of one tiny section this morning before breakfast – all on a Czech Nymphing setup. Should be illegal it’s so effective!
SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed manages everything at TRM – including me) is always pleased to see Father & Sons trout fishing the Tongariro River for some friendly competition or recreational pursuit for a family bonding exercise in a 100% pure natural environment. See following completely unbiased account to confirm how they still managed to make the most of an otherwise uninspiring wet soggy weekend… Even the AB’s won too. Thanks to Gary & Camlo.
Thought you might like another piccy in case you need a bit more fodder for those extremely useful and entertaining daily reports of yours.
My son Camlo is home from Malta for a short time and is hoping to go back there to work for another year. Malta as an Island that has only 300mm of rain a year, you could imagine there’s not a river to be seen anywhere.
Our experience here this weekend has been great to reinspire him as to what a wonderful country we live in, and how perfect Turangi is in its central positioning in the North Island.
TRM is an awesome setup that you’ve developed. It’s been like a home away from home with plenty of heating options, comfy beds and good old fashioned bedding, real tea leaves and hot chocolate and that smoker worked a treat on my premium 3 pounder.
Many thanks to you and your lovely wife for being so friendly and fun.
(I could not have composed it better…)
