After the Turangi Councillor resignation and PC shenanigans to plot the economic future of Turangi and Lions rugby and Americas Cup excitement… we know you will need some relief.
So…
(With abject apologies to the Poet Laureate)
I must go down to the stream again, to the rushing stream and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall rod and a line to cast a fly,
And a deep pool and a sly trout, and the bellbirds speaking,
And the snarled cast and the sandflies and the waders leaking.
I must go down to the stream again, for the call of the running trout
Is a wild call and a clear call that leaves no room for doubt,
And all I ask is the sharp tug and the reel drum screaming
And the sprung tip and the pulled hook and the mad blaspheming.
I must go down to the stream again for the vagrant angler’s day,
For the missed strike and the flicked fly and the ones that get away,
And all I ask is that friends afar will accept the kindest wishes
For fair weather and tight lines from a fool that fishes.
Such poetry lends itself more to the wonderful scenic Waitahanui so below are some images taken last Tuesday to cheer up Shane – recuperating from his busted knee.
