Another over due update for CCD (Check Clen Dry) awareness.

DOC fishery staff (Department of Conservation are the managers of the Taupo Fishery) kindly supply TRM with heaps of CCD bottles which are filled with the magic formula (dishwashing liquid) and left at the more popular angler access spots around the Tongariro River.

These are mostly secured by plastic ties to discourage kids from taking them to use as water pistols. To remove, simply unscrew the bottle.

If you are arriving from a different river it is compulsory to CCD your gear before wading in the Tongariro River. OK? No ifs or buts.

There is too much risk to the environment to allow anglers to get slack about bio-security.

Also, all TRM units have CCD bottles hanging outside the entry (next to a selection of wading poles aka old ski poles donated by Turangi Ski Hire – hint, hint). Please help yourself.

If you regularly move rivers either within the Taupo catchment or over the hill east to the Mohaka or west to the Wanganui and Whakapapa or south to the Rangitikei, or anywhere else there is water, then feel free to take a bottle with you and show you care… Thank you.
