Before & after pics

Above – German angler, Reimund Hartinger, was delighted with the good condition of the Rainbow trout.  He proved the trout survived the flood and despite the grey pumice colour restricting visibility in the river, they soon located and attacked his olive woolly bugger.  Landed below the Trout Centre.

Above is a huge boulder that has emerged after the flood – located in what was a riffly run-in, now more of a rapid – above Judges Pool.

Following the 700 cumec flood on Friday-Saturday the Tongariro soon resumed ‘normal service’ with the ‘after’ pics taken Sunday morning when the river was flowing around about 40 cumecs.  Very fishable….

It is always remarkable to see how quickly the Tongariro recovers.  There are a few changes that follow a flood with many tons of gavel moved down river and new holes and pools are created.
