Above – German angler, Reimund Hartinger, was delighted with the good condition of the Rainbow trout. He proved the trout survived the flood and despite the grey pumice colour restricting visibility in the river, they soon located and attacked his olive woolly bugger. Landed below the Trout Centre.
Above is a huge boulder that has emerged after the flood – located in what was a riffly run-in, now more of a rapid – above Judges Pool.

It is always remarkable to see how quickly the Tongariro recovers. There are a few changes that follow a flood with many tons of gavel moved down river and new holes and pools are created.
