We were delighted with the “likes” on facebook for the above photo – taken from the summit of Mt. Pihanga in January.
Locals are very proud of their little town posting over 200 “likes” – a PB for TRM. Many no longer live here but their memories spark remarkable loyalty. So thank you to everyone for your support.
We followed it up with autumn colours taken from the top of Mt. Tihia.
The autumn colours have gone now with chilly winter mornings are followed by stunning fine days. The weather pattern down here really displays the variety of the seasons with changing views every few months.
The winter spawning runs are now evident with furious action at first light and everyone easily catching their limit bags on the Tongariro down below the main road bridge. This morning Sean reported the most action he has seen but soon after it tailed off. Wet liners were the most successful followed closely by nymphing with BIG glo bugs.
Some of the fresh run fish flashed like chrome as they broke off. Great fishing just in time for school holidays next week but you had better book now….
The rest of NZ does not know what they are missing so we use the following short video to remind them of what Turangi is all about..
