One of TRM’s characters – Paddy Walsh from Opanake – with his ten pounder from yesterday.
What a massive fat trophy brown trout. This was one of several landed over the last few days.
Another that was just about as big was landed and dealt to and left on the bank while Paddy continued casting. When he returned it was gone? Wild cats? Who knows… So Paddy deserved this trophy brown trout.
Paddy has been a regular inmate at TRM escaping from the farm whenever the weather and the cows let him…
He is usually accompanied by his side-kick Willy – see other images – from Lower Hutt. Willy had left the day before but the cows let Paddy stay on a few more days.
Between them it is a comical act from start to finish, constantly looking for a prank or other ways to make their fishing (and TRM) more entertaining.
An example, for which they were instantly recognisable, is illustrated below back in 2013 when the Bridge Pool (Due to recent changes I suppose we should now refer to it as the ‘old’ Bridge Pool?) was too crowded and there was no room between all the ‘bros’ for them. So they adopted a cunning policy of “if you can’t beat them then join them” and converted to Rustafarian disguise complete with dreadlocks so they could sneak in between the bros and not be noticed?. They were so accepted they wore their disguise for the rest of the year.
