Fifty Pools to Fish Before you Die…
TRM have been asked again by West Island wannabe fishos how to find images to research all the famous Tongariro River pools?.
The Tongariro Bucket map is the best place to start:
Then there are the four brief videos prepared by TRM. The “slide show” images were mainly taken about four years ago but, apart from the lower river pools, there has been minimal change since.
First, enjoy a brief journey down the upper river from the Fence Pool (winter limit) down to Red Hut:
Then the middle river from Red Hut down to the Never Fail:
Then the Town Pools from Hydro down to the Braids below the road bridge – these get the most attention by anglers with the Bridge Pool being the most popular pool in NZ:

Last the lower river pools – this lower river has since been altered by diggers and bulldozers completing “flood protection” works for Waikato Regional Council, but the images still provide a reasonable impression of the different conditions and what to expect down there.

Something is wrong – they would not load? Perhaps they have been hacked as they illustrated all the damage done by the Council works… I will try to post them tomorrow.
