TRM have a really special treat for fishos planned for next summer. A truly unique trout fishing day trip to where access is only possible on horse-back. This summer we explored the river to confirm BIG trophy trout were there.

Horses are the only method to gain access to such remote back-country rivers – which otherwise never get fished. Why? The river meanders through private land and forests and bush only accessible by horses.

This is very special indeed with a range of choices. From the elevated position afforded from a saddle spotting is so much easier – the trout cannot hide. Anglers have a choice to cast from the saddle or by wet wading or stopping off at various deep mysterious pools targeting sighted trout.

Last summer TRM explored the potential when the river was flowing at record low levels and became convinced of the potential. We have now negotiated “exclusive” rights limited to TRM inmates. OK?

What do we mean by remote? If I suggested that you will probably see wild horses and deer in the vicinity then you realise it is the real wilderness outback experience.

Any other form of vehicle or other access is blocked off by gates. The only way in to this paradise is by wading up the river. You will not find any signs from any other anglers anywhere. The only prints found will be from feral deer or wild horses.

For anglers seeking a “once-in-a-lifetime” different more exciting and challenging fun fly fishing experience, this is very special. You do not need to be a skilled horse rider. It is not a cavalry course. These are experienced trek horses that will just plod along to follow your guide.

This full-day trip combines fly fishing with a horse trek up a river in natural native bush and forest environment with no other angler pressure. It just does not get any better.
