Introduction to fly fishing
Young happy enthusiast novice angler on right wading the Braids is Cooper Goodeve from New Plymouth. (Sorry the waders did not fit. They even leaked but he did not mind as long as he could get out there amongst the trout.)
During the last school holidays other anglers have been asking TRM if there are any “Introduction to Fly Fishing” courses on the Tongariro or in Taupo region? We get many father & son teams who would love to attend such a course. If anyone is keen to teach youngsters then TRM have all the gear available – donated by other generous inmates – so get in touch.
We have not heard of the local club – TALTAC (Tongariro and Lake Taupo Anglers Club) organising any such courses?. In fact we never hear from them for anything…
Does the Taupo Club – mainly boat fishos – have courses to compare to the following effort to encourage fly fishing by F&G in Otago – as posted on TRM Daily Report last Friday?.
It is sad the Taupo Fishery Managers, DOC – Department of Conservation- do not hold any courses to encourage young and more mature kids to try trout fishing on the Tongariro River. They don’t even promote trout fishing, like this following example of how it could be.
