Welcome back to Jim Rowlands from USA, back at TRM again.
He stayed several weeks late last year and has been touring the South Island since trying to locate any fishy streams that had not dried up. He struggled. I know that feeling.
So he is pdelighted to be back in the North Island where he can be more confident about both finding and catching trout.
On his was to TRM he stopped off at Tarata Fishaway to raft fish the Rangitikei with Steve again.
From what he said, he caught more trout in one raft fishing trip than he managed over the previous two months in the South Island.
Thank you to all those anglers who provided their stories on why they fish the Tongariro River. Other inmates have been enjoying their stories on the Daily Report every Sunday.
Early warning – look out for next Easter Sunday’s report on an angler who has created more publicity on the Tongariro River than all the rest combined. Guess who?
Many of them feature in the TRM video:

That is why we need your support.
This is a well-established Recreational Reserve. That is a vital link to the people of Northland and Auckland. Don’t let this be turned into a pristine Sanctuary where people can’t touch.
It is a really good fishery that the Auckland Freshwater angles Club has supported and fought for in the past.
We should not have to prove our worth every 10 years.
