SWMBO was amused by the advertisment below (She Who Must Be Obeyed is the manager of security and weather at TRM).
It is dated today, 17 February, with a Waikato company claiming “cutting edge technology” by inventing planter boxes as anti ram-raid bollards. SWMBO just wants them to know this cutting edge crime technology was originally posted on TRM’s blog almost two months ago!
The advertisement reads: Anti-ram raid bollards that look like street furniture such as seating and planter boxes have been launched by a Waikato company, with the first ones installed outside a store in the Hamilton CBD.

Updated security at TRM
Sadly, new security measures have recently become “normal” recently for all businesses allowing public entry. In the major cities the ram-raiding sickos are discouraged by steel bollards to block the entrance and prevent stolen vehicles from ramming their premises. Turangi does not have that problem but we do try to keep up appearances with new city landscaping fashions.

Below are SWMBO’s (She Who Must Be Obeyed is in charge of everything here including the weather and security measures) crime prevention measures.
FIrst is the early warning security leader called Juno. She advises us as soon as any vehicles approach and takes up her station beside the public entry. At all other times she regularly patrols the property looking for any suspicious characters to chase away.

Second are TRM’s botanical version of security bollards. They might look like flower pots to you but to any wannabe thieves, they represent impenetrable barriers that also soften the appearance with some pretty summer flower arrangements at the entry. (They are located under cover to prevent rain from shredding the flowers)
Third is SWMBO hiding inside waiting to ambush them pretending to be chatting away at Her reception desk with a camera recording everything.

We trust these security measures will help city guests to relax and enjoy a safe holiday, feeling at home in familiar surroundings that they are more used to.
Now, almost two months later, Her brilliant anti-ram crime prevention idea has been copied. SWMBO should have patented it!
