As mentioned in the previous blog, the information in the map “Fifty Pools to Fish Before You Die” is being updated to reflect many physical changes following the flood last August.

However – one thing overlooked – it is not an easy task for one person to cover all pools and access issues to report new snags etc. If you discover some changes that were not mentioned previously or find changes and need to warn other anglers, could you please email: ross@tongarirorivermotel.co.nz – or mention them to Steven next time you need a coffee break at the iconic Creel Tackle House. They will be updating the pool ratings schedule (see original obsolete 2012 version below). Thanking you in anticipation.

Our original map was produced in 2012. The last update was 2017. So it is timely for a major review to include all new tracks or pools.

i.e. The new track to access the TRB of The Boulevard, extending down river from the Kamahi Pool was not in existence previously. As there was no access track to the Boulevard (below Never Fail Pool) it was also missed, but now it needs to be included.
