Over the Christmas – New Year period TRM will post a few more inmates interviews. These are a much more realistic believable view of what this region has to offer – straight from tourist anglers.
These interviews are all done on an iPhone – so we apologise if at times they are difficult to understand. Blame the Aussie colloquial vernacular…
I hope the following comments are heard by the Fishery Managers. TRM are often alone with comments about the need for a single fishing licence throughout NZ and the need to consider the damage to tourism by Waikato Regional Council’s never ending ‘improvements’ to the lower river contours.
The photos in this clip date from 2006 – when they tried to build an access road across from the “Plank Pool” to extract road metal. The contractors access road was washed away one day later…
It has continued ever since. The damage they have done to the trout habitat and spawning redds and the destruction of the natural river environment from excavating new canals etc. is inexcusable.
But the damage they have done to local tourism is never considered or recognised.
Enjoy!
