The Project Tongariro forest restoration project has been running at Lake Rotopounamu for over 12 years and the improvement to bird life is remarkable!
Join Project Tongariro volunteers for a walk around the lake checking rodent traps, weta hotels and bird spotting. Enjoy a BBQ picnic at ‘long beach’ and hear about how this unique place is being protected. Learn about the conservation initiatives currently underway in the area and the importance of local partnerships to ensure this area remains the icon it is today, for many years to come.
