The early bird catches the worm…

Great photo of another successful TRM angleress, Alicia Lepperd from Taranaki.

She was so thrilled as there were six other determined male fishos anchored in the Hydro Pool early on Saturday morning, all of whom were casting way beyond her reach aiming at the confluence of the little stream (Mangamawhitiwhiti).

So she sneaks in behind them and caught three – compared to their combined total of nil!.  There is a good lesson for all the other anglers there – FFF – Fish yur feet first!

But the story gets even better.

That is her Dad in the other images taken some time ago on previous visits.

Over the last decade SWMBO has noticed he always returns with only the best superb conditioned trout. So Alicia may have inherited his skills too?

Neil Sinclair (always known by his nickname “Worm”) phoned me earlier in the week to see if the main spawning runs had started yet before he came over for a few days.  Reluctantly I replied to wait a bit longer – after the forecast rain? – as 2018 is developing into a late season for spawning runs and during the school holidays usually mean there are more anglers than trout.

So he stayed on the farm while clever  daughter cleaned up the bros in the Hydro Pool.  Mind you, she must have had a good coach…

So now you understand the heading above – how the early bird catches the “worm”!
