No weekend report as TRM inmates struggled to land anything above legal size. They suggested the dry fly fishing has been frustrating with miserable results during the weekend – so this report is for them. The rain has just started so any changes in barometer pressure should encourage another spawning run up the Tongariro River for next weekend. Meanwhile others enjoyed PB (personal best) results elsewhere i.e. for evidence, we were delighted to receive the following report…

If you are keen enough to wade in the dark (?), the Western Bays could be a worthwhile alternative option. We can now show you last Weekend’s results from Richard Wooffindin’s email:

Hi Ross. Please find attached photos of rainbow and brown taken in the Western Bays – all around 6lb. We landed a personal record of 43 fish between the two of us, between 8:30 and midnight. It was unlike anything I’ve ever seen there. A literal swarm of fish rising.

Most in excellent condition. All of the fish were returned to the water healthy except one for eating.

As their particular location did not photograph well at night, we include other Western Bays pics to show off the scenery and to keep you guessing. Or you may need to stay at TRM to find out where…
