In TRM’s blog on the swing bridges across the Tongariro River, another smaller bridge from across the Poutu was mentioned.

When DOC decided that the anglers’ access track from SH1 to Boulder Reach was no longer needed, the anglers’ bridge was stolen and airlifted out to where a bridge was needed by trampers in the National Park who did not want to get their feet wet.
Can you identify any similarities between the original Poutu Bridge and another burnt out during the recent bush fire? Well, I never! Coincidence or Karma…?
