New Taupō fishing season kicks off today – 1 July marks the start of the 2025/26 fishing season in the Taupō Fishing District.

A new fishing season means anglers will need a new fishing licence. DOC’s newly refurbished online fishing licence store is available 24-hours a day seven days a week, offering anglers a convenient way to buy a fishing licence.

The new system extends the benefits of our previous online store, bringing an improved user interface and greater stability. In addition, anglers can choose to set up a user profile to make managing and buying licences easier in the future. Alternatively, purchasers seeking a faster route can opt to use the guest function.
