Tonight TRM has a total of 14 anglers in house. Eleven of them are West Islanders. With this number of inmates spread all over the rivers we can soon find out who is more successful and where are the best results from and what the fish are taking etc..
But you need to realise that you have to stay here to find out more. If we posted every result it would be an insult to those anglers staying here who have done the hard yards researching where is the best fishing at the moment.
Above is Geoff from Melbourne with his best catch yesterday – a prime jack of over seven pound.
Last week we had Paddy – below – with his ten pounder – a magnificent Brown jack.
There have been a good number of BIG browns landed in the last week or so. This time of the year is always difficult before the main spawning runs start so these anglers like Geoff book in for two weeks to cover a lot of ground to make sure they allow for more difficult wet and windy days when they cannot expect to do so well. So we are sorry but we cannot give out their research and other detail info over the phone or on line. i.e. A caller yesterday was very annoyed and did not understand why, when we declined to tell him exactly where, etc.. We trust you understand…
BLUE POOL ACCESS
Anglers visiting the upper Tongariro River should to be aware that access to the Blue Pool car park may be occasionally interrupted while NZ Forest Managers prepare for forest replanting. Any access restrictions will be temporary and only imposed if triggered by health and safety concerns.
The replanting work follows on from the significant logging operation that took place in the area in December 2017. When full access was restored anglers were shocked at the devastating changes to the landscape – so it will be great to see the area tidied up and replanting work undertaken.
